TOBACCO, SMOKING

Genetic testing has been suggested as a means to increase the level of stop smoking and thus reduce the prevalence of smoking. To understand how that might arguably, probably with appreciation of the current social context of tobacco use and dependence, we do contextual analysis associated with smoking and genetics quit smoking.

To provide value-added, genetics will need to inform and improve existing interventions for smokers (including treatment of behavioral and pharmacologist). Pharmaceutics offers the most promising potential, because it can increase the effectiveness of the drug strategy-based smoking cessations.

All the interventions that have proven to treat tobacco dependence, however, including cost-effective simple measures, such as the stop and the counseling physician, which is underused. Such as the use of tobacco occur disproportionately among disadvantaged populations, efforts to increase access to health care, the smoker and the tools that are known to help them quit, represent the most promising approach to reducing the prevalence of smoking in groups.

Similar considerations apply to other chronic diseases contributing to population-level health disparities. We conclude that although genetics offers increasing opportunities to tailor drug treatment, and may in some cases provide useful risk prediction, other methods of personalizing care are likely to yield greater benefit to populations experiencing health disparities related to tobacco use.
